AXOLOTL/INCA ORE - split 7"

Arbor - £5.00

Karl Bauer and Eva Saelens (Axolotl and Inca Ore respectively) are two like minded Bay area psychers operating on two opposing levels. Axolotl marks the A side with skyward streaking drones and ethereal loops tinged and focused, ringing with the joyous bliss of upward passage. An endless array of vocals, electronics, and violin looping and looping, building and growing: stasis. Inca Ore makes her craft from an Earth bound level. Oneness with her surroundings, roots firmly planted. Eerie incantations and meandering harp play foreground to layer upon layer of looped vocals and murky ambience, charting your way towards forever. In an edition of 450 white purity colored 7”s in black and white pro-printed collage fold-over sleeves by Eva with a numbered insert.

BARN OWL - From Our Mouths A Perpetual Light LP

Not Not Fun - £11.00

'Since first bearing witness to Barn Owl's mythically desolate amplifier alchemy last year, we've been rabid fans/fanatics. But like lots of badass bands, BO are a rolling stone, heavy on the transformation tip, and the BO of today is an altered beast from the one that folkily fingerpicked Bridge To The Clouds and their self-titled disc way back when. And in case we're not being clear: this is a beautiful thing. From Our Mouths A Perpetual Light burns with the sun-dead majesty of a Death Valley burial ground, all wasted waterless expanse and cracked earth smoke blowing in the dry wind. Heavy western drone revelations bleed into forlorn guitar drift, downcast percussion plods across the plain, a skull on its side lies in the sands. Evan Caminiti and Jon Porras have somehow flawlessly evolved Barn Owl into a blazing new universe, and From Our Mouths… is the first mission statement from their new spectral/aesthetic outpost, a stunning and timeless eight-song suite of grim cinematic electricity. Tune in, drop dead, rot on. In swank matte jackets with 'four-armed demon warrior-yogi' artwork by the band. Edition of 435 (275 on white wax, 160 on black)' - NNF

BEACH FUZZ - No Flaws No Ceiling cassette

Lotus Birth - £5.00

'Beach Fuzz is a new Manchester trio featuring members of Serfs, Stuckometer, and Eye Hai; Side A is a 17 minute jam of soaring major key guitar and keyboard bliss w/ primitive floor tom & cymbal drumming, Side B is four short tracks of low key melodic drones and rhythm - LB'. Limited to 80 copies, in sweet stitched and transfered bag, sprayed tapes and an insert.

BURIAL HEX - Blood Between Her Lakes cassette

Turgid Animal - £4.00

'Burial Hex has not only just toured the UK but has released his first CD album on the AB label over here too. This tape compiles 40 minutes of Mid-West USA horror electronics. Creepy passages of evil ambience coupled with noisy wails leave you feeling numb and chained. Perfect for those quiet nights in. Evil tones from Clay Ruby. Black and white insert as approved by The Rita' - TA.

EVAN CAMINITI - Buried Light cassette

Digitalis - £5.00

A few months back when I recieved the master for the Barn Owl 'Smoke Loom Ceremony' cassette, Evan included a copy of some solo material for me to check out, which just happens to be this fine release that DIgitalis has just released, it's great that this has came out, its a great piece of music, that flows from the vibes that Evan has in Barn Owl. Lush drones layered in with sweet pluckery skills. Digitalis said: 'E.K. Caminiti is best known as half of the mighty Barn Owl. But on "Buried Light," we are snatched up and taken into a new direction, one that is solely his. peeling back the skin, "buried light" offers a glimpse of magnetic mazes that are shrouded in a cloak of silver haze. These songs are, like their Barn Owl brethren, organic and dense. Layers of fuzz hide the melodic picks and strums underneath. with each attempt, Caminiti soars through cosmos on a bed of aural space debris.Moving like a nightcrawler, "Buried Light" is full of twists, turns, and even a little magic. Caminiti utilizes a whole host of instrumentation from guitars and voice to bells and chimes. the end result is something rich and varied. "Buried Light" is an absolute gem. Limited to 88 handnumbered copies, packaged in j-cards printed on recycled papers w/ painted red tapes & an insert.'

CHANGELING - Into Great Peace cassette

Not Not Fun - £5.00

Ex-Texan Roy Tatum has been holing up in un-air conditioned apartments mumbling out his bleak loner blues drift for the past couple years, but his most recent-ish outpourings have found him plumbing even foggier inner vistas (see Five Thousand Nights, On The Other Side Of You, etc), and Into Great Peace may be the ultimate Changeling surrendering to date. A pair of blurry, beautiful guitar meditations that tread water in the sky, rippling with murmurs and weird waves, cycling through a lost, narcoleptic wash of reverb atmospherics and mirage vibrations. A slow-motion migration from new age depths to ancient heights. Let go. Pro-manufactured aqua cassettes with seaweed-green shell art in a Tatum-designed J-card. Hand-numbered edition of 200.

CLAUDIO TWO - Contemporary Suicide Music CDR

Mad Monk - £7.00

New CDR from this project featuring James Toth (Wooden Wand), Jessica Toth (aka Satya Sai) and Max Mev Wicker. Fluctuating between total weirdo sounds and punk blues raggedy jams this is a real nice vibe from Toth who has consistently done great material in all the ventures he seems to be involved in. Limited to only 150 copies. Recommended!

ANDREW COLTRANE - Cosmic Machine cassette

Snapped In Half - £5.00

'Synth, straight no chaser. This tape is 2 side long synth jams from Michigan madman A.C. These drones are deep, dank and endless as the cosmos. This release sports a full color j-card, with printed labels on transparent fuschia tapes. Pure electric sex, edition of 50' - Snapped In Half

COOPERJONES/CARS - Split C61

Night People - £5.99

This split cassette captures just a little slice of the Manchester/Nottingham/Sheffield area young improv scene. Got the pleasure of meeting and performing on the same bill with some of these folks back in March and recognized right away that something interesting was brewing there. Total duo action going on with this release, Sophie and Kelly kick out some epic intricate folky guitar action as Cooper Jones, and on the flip side Patrick and Pascal break on some sprawling percussion and drum storms as Cars. Lots of movement here, this is a long document, capturing the flow of what these two groups do. Silkscreened artwork by Ryan Garbage.

CULVER - Whats Inside Heidi's Head cassette

Turgid Animal - £4.00

'Ultra long offering from Newcastle's Culver! Monotone drone at it's finest, put it on and wonder what happened to you for 2 hours.... Whats inside your head? Limited to 50 copies on white stamped tapes with fold out covers. Evil!' - TA

CAM DEAS - About A Train CDR

Dead Pilot - £4.50

Great new limited edition release from Cam whose BR cdr sold out super fast a month or so back... totally different to that though... 2 long tracks, recorded live and improvised during each train journey (tracks are called 'London' and 'Sheffield'). Pretty weird stuff, pretty noisy, best listened to real loud...

FOREST CREATURE - s/t CDR

Self Released - £5.00

Brand new edition of only 23 copies tour CDR from this Sheffield duo that had a tape/cdr on BR a month ago... each one comes with a different cover, all hand pasted together and cut out by these dudes. 4 tracks, 33 minutes. Similar kinda basement avant psyche punk that as mentioned on previous occasions, kinda reminds me of Black Dice, or maybe Fuck Buttons or something. Track 3 'Learning With Paddy' features another Sheffield legend Patrick 'Paddy' Derbyshire on electric guitar, adding a really surreal edge to this track, which almost has a beat to it, it's really far out, and it just builds into chaos, and meanders around different forms of chaos, that surrealling seem to make some sort of sense. Closing track 'Learning To Dance' is pretty much what it says in the title - a dance track, with weirdo bleeps and gnomic vocal similar to Skaters, but more chaotic - but don't buy this thinking its like Skaters, cos its not at all

GRAVEYARDS - Untitled 8" sqaure lathe cut record

Alt Vinyl - £11.00

'Graveyards return with a mighty slap around the chops on this amazing wedge of basement-scuzz-free-jazz-splat, burped violently from within the pyramids of Michigan with the help of Wolf Eyes' John Olson on reeds and the duo of Ben Hall and Hans Buetown on percussion and noise. This is a raw-lipped gurner of awesome proportions. Bloody heck! Limited to 150' - Alt

JAZZFINGER - The Golden State CDR

Turgid Animal - £4.00

'Early Jazzfinger recordings from 1997 finally seeing the light of day! Near 30 mins of perfect nothern improv drone that this duo is well known for. Comes in Turgid Animal style oversized bag with large artwork' - TA

HEALTH - s/t cassette

DNT Records - £5.00

Super limited cassette edition on DNT of band from LA that lay somewherre between Ex Models, Liars and Raccoo-oo-oon... weird dancey punk noise-ness from a band that, bizarrely, got single of the week in The Guardian, I was really surprised to hear that. But yeah, pretty damn fun. Comes on solid yellow tapes too!

HEATSICK - Reverse Gardens cassette

Turgid Animal - £4.00

'New murky tape tonality from Steve Warwick of Birds of Delay fame. First side is straight to tape lo-fi tonal drone of the highest order. The flip is a loop recorded live that slowly builds and dies. Get yer fix! 100 copies on clear tapes with full colour art by the man himself' - TA

HELM - Last Journey to Her Altar cassette

Sick Head - £5.99

Serious zoned megabreakfast vibes! "Last Journey To Her Altar" is a 40 minute trip of heavy space-warp drone from Luke Younger of Birds of Delay. Split into 2 segments, expanding and evolving, it's a serious neural sizzler. Dives blindfolded into the headspace surrounding harmony that gives so much of Birds' stuff the edge but with a unique solo joint style. Hands-down best Helm hit on the market. Packaged with new-style Sick Head colour artwork, 100% committed to taking you to the light side of the moon

HELM - Impasse 3" CDR

Luke Younger was the second person to ever have a release on BR, and i'm here's a new release on Gareth Hardwick's Low Point label, and its damn fine! Pretty different to the vibes Luke makes with Warwick in Birds of Delay, this has a real far out, celestial possession to it, quite different to the release we did back in early 2007, it really shows the development of the sound, totally awesome, and highly recommended.

HISATO HIGUCHI - Wind Chimes In The Head cassette

Sloow Tapes - £6.00

'Guitar-moanings from the Otherworld drifting away through the clouds of a black Japanese night, dissolving into silence. Cover art by Ritsuko Ozeki - 'Netting F'. 100 copies' - Sloow Tapes

HETERO SKELETON - Borborygmi cassette

Ikuisuus - £5.00

Insider's note: I just can't recall who played what. There's some photographic evidence, Arttu hunched over an amp, pitch-shifting, feedback, a whole lotta horn, the drums were buried & a mistake in the first place, the unreliable bullhorn, did I play some guitar? Don't know. Maybe we tried too hard. Maybe we even had a plan. Kinda reminds me of those Borbetomagus/Voice Crack-collaborations, if that's not too arrogant a description. Nowadays it's always like this, the train keeps a-rollin' from the get-go, does anybody remember when we used to do short songs? Where's the funny stuff? Nobody's laughing. We lost it, man, should really pack it all up & leave, call it a day. Just listen to those drums - what is that all about? Turn it over and you'll get JS666's real-time remix of the mess we left behind. Is it any better? Can a heap of foul-smelling turd be compressed into a shiny little nugget of gold? Lord have mercy. And now I'm dancing with myself. For obvious reasons. Thanks for listening, little boy. - Tero Skeleton

HOCKEYFRILLA / DEEPKISS720 - Split Cassette

Archivo De Sangre De Dios - £4.00

First couple of releases from Robin Dickinson (Slow Listener) brand spanking new label... Edition of only 50 copies!

THE HUNTER GRACCHUS - Andalusian Dog cassette

Recollections of Knulp - £5.00

Ben Nash's Recollections of Knulp continues it collection of nice releases with this new cassette from Sheffield's own The Hunter Gracchus... HG play as a trio here, made up of Jon and Fiona (Singing Knives rulers) and Kamran, meandering middle eastern vibes flow through this like the weed through a skinhead scrubber kid... There are so many instruments on here its hard to lay it down to anything in particular, minimal tappery, electric jiggs, jangling chimes, sining bowls and broken bells... A real nice treat encased in artwork by the awesome Pascal Nichols of Stuckometer. Edition of 50 copies, and recommended for fans of minimal weirdness rooted in folk thinking with a splash of drone.

HUSH ARBORS/JERUSALEM AND THE STARBASKETS - split 7"

Great Pop Supplement - £5.00

'Next up on the Great Pop Supplement, comes a mighty 45 pairing longtime Missouri friends Jerusalem and the Starbaskets and Hush Arbors. A fabulous band, JATS debut here with the formidable "I Cannot Radiato Without You". A spiky 2 chord blast clocking in at under 2 minutes of perfect pop. Acting as a taster for the stunning "Battle of the Orchids" imminent full length (on the GPS soon), the band merge the ferocity of the Sonics with the tenderness of Galaxie 500 or 3rd album Velvets. Wacked out, often ferocious, psych blues- a taster from which appears here. Hush Arbors' recent expansion to a two piece, debut here on vinyl, with "Mr. Bones", another gem from the songwriting genius of Keith Wood. A gentle acoustic opening gives way to a fuller, perhaps busier, 12 string laced sound- not unlike some unreleased nugget from the Gene Clark "Roadmaster" sessions where he coaxed the original Byrds to reconvene for one last time on wax…. Very limited vinyl only 45, on split 'one half orange, one half green' vinyl. Get on it!' - GPS

C. JOYNES - The Running Board LP

Great Pop Supplement - £9.50

Sweet new LP from this London based guitarist, and the first LP on GPS. A really nice record of covers, traditionals and improvisations, blurred with the odd field recording... really nice, this is definetly going to appeal to fans of Jack Rose, James Blackshaw, Fahey... Limited to only 200 copies in sweet card sleeves, with obi-style strip and floral cover art. Highly recommended!
